Stripes are taking on a new shape this season as designers transform the traditional favorite for Spring 2015. Color blocked patterns of multicolored stripes feel young and fresh and were taking over the Spring 2015 runways. Casual jersey looks are perfect for that spring break getaway, like the midi dresses from Stella McCartney in bold color blocking or the maxi versions from Kenzo and Diane Von Furstenberg. More formal versions of the trend were showcased at Rosie Assoulin and Proenza Schouler. Their designs featured origami-style pleats that created more complicated patterns within the fabric, enhancing the sophisticated feel of their looks. Zero + Maria Cornejo, Marni and Cedric Charlier showed looks closer to casual work wear with striped separates in both matching and mismatching varieties.
Accessorize this trend with pieces that have an organic quality for a look that’s more fashion forward. The resin and crystal pieces from Alexis Bittar or the heavily layered chain and crystal statement necklaces from Assad Mounser are the perfect complements to this trend. For a look that feels more classically cool, accessorize with bold metallic pieces like Aurelie Bidermann’s braided metallic collars or the grommet two-tone cuffs from Caterina Zangrando.
