All work and no play makes jewelers a dull bunch. After a long day of hustle and bustle on the show floor, you deserve to take time to “cheers” the business you’ve accomplished. Venture beyond the convention center and experience the culinary spread of the bright light city. According to Thrillist, here are 4 happy hours to treat yourself to that won’t break the trip budget.
1. Downtown Cocktail Room
- Where: Downtown, approx. 5 miles from the Sands Expo. Convention. (Approx. 17 min drive).
- When: Monday-Saturday 5–7 pm
- Happy Hour: The Halfy Hour at the Downtown Cocktail Room is simple and straightforward: 50% off everything on the menu. It’s a great opportunity to sample one of the best and often, most experimental cocktail menus in Las Vegas. If you need to save even more money, head to the back and visit Mike Morey’s Sip ‘n’ Tip, a bar-within-a-bar, where the drinks are a bit cheaper and Pabst Blue Ribbon is $3.
2. The Golden Tiki
- Where: Chinatown, approx. 2 miles from the Sands Expo. Convention Center. (Approx. 12 min. drive).
- When: Daily 4–7 pm
- Happy Hour: This 24-hour tiki bar has $4 draft beer and select specialty cocktails $6-7. The menu also has discounts on a lineup of Asian-inspired light bites (like crab rangoon, lion’s head meatballs, and furikake chips with onion dip).
3. Cleaver – Butchered Meats, Seafood, & Classic Cocktails
- Where: Off-strip, Approx. .9 miles from the Sands Expo. Convention Center. (Approx. 4 minutes drive).
- When: Currently all night
- Happy Hour: The happy hour at this east-of-the-Strip steakhouse typically runs 5–8 pm and midnight–3 am, but has been expanded during the pandemic to all night long until further notice. Take advantage while you can. Similar to sister bar and restaurant Herbs & Rye, steaks and pork chops are half off, which is more dinner than happy hour. Just look for a “C” next to the items that qualify. Some large shareable plates are included, but might be subject to a splitting charge. Cocktails are on sale as well.
4. Eureka! Discover American Craft
- Where: Downtown, approx. 5 miles from the Sands Expo. Convention. (Approx. 17 min drive).
- When: Daily 2–6 pm and 9 pm–close
- The deal: This Fremont Street burger joint has “Hoppy Hour” twice-a-day. Wolf down small bites like the $8 Eureka Burger, $7 sherry-braised riblets, and $6 mac n’ cheese balls. Check the chalkboard on the wall for $5 drafts, $7 house wine or select cocktails (including a Margarita or Old Fashioned), and a $9 Vegas Boilermaker: a shot of Buffalo Trace with 7FIVE Training Day Golden Ale (produced by Golden Knight hockey player Ryan Reeves).
Note: Though these are current now, JCK is a month out, and if we’ve learned anything in the past year, it’s that things change. So call/check social media before you head out and arrive disappointed.
